PART I GENERAL
1.1 Scope of Work
A. The work required includes furnishing and installing bullet resisting Vision
Window Assemblies of the sizes and quantities indicated.
B. The bullet resistant vision window assemblies must be Underwriters Laboratories
listed and bear a U.L. Label for the
(specify to select one:
MPSA, HPSA, SPSA or HPR) ballistic threat level as defined by the standard of
Safety U.L. 752 bullet resistant equipment.
1.2 Submittals
A. Provide the manufacturers specifications, data and other information which
substantiates compliance with the specified performance requirements.
B. Provide approval drawings that indicate sizes, details and installation
procedures for the bullet resistant vision window unit(s) required.
PART II PRODUCTS
2.1 Manufacturers
A. Provide the products of the following manufacturer or equal;
1. National Bullet Proof, Inc. (800-323-2648), fax 708- 430-3406 (Note to
specifier: insert model numbers in this paragraph.)
2.2 Bullet Resistant Window Framing
A. Materials - All bullet resistant frames will be manufactured from Balistex(R) 38P
bullet resistant steel in accordance with ULŪ 752. (For higher ballistic
levels, delete ULŪ 752 and add: "The manufacturers independently tested
assemblies to resist the specified ballistic level.")
B. Construction -
1. The window framing shall be framing type AFV is manufactured by NATIONAL
BULLET PROOF, INC., 1-800- 323-2649, or equal.
2. The framing shall be welded and include all accessories and be U.L.
Listed MPSA.
3. The frames shall be mitered corners for a neat and tight seam after
assembly.
4. Finish of the frames shall be prime painted. (Option: stainless
steel, baked enamel)
5. Manufacturer shall provide anchoring preparation as required for a
proper installation.
6. The frames shall be constructed to allow voice transmission between
the frame and glass by use of neoprene glass spacers 12" on centers
(Note to specifier, if sound transmission is not required or a
ULŪ Listed speak thru is to be installed in the glass, then specify the
frames to be prepared for sealed glazing).
2.3 Bullet Resisting Glazing
A. Materials - The bullet resistant glazing shall be U.L. Listed for the ____
ballistic threat level and consist of laminated glass with polyvinyl interlayer
______ thick or equal. Glazing to be purchased with frame and deal tray
from window manufacturer to maintain ballistic quality assurance.
PART III EXECUTION
3.1 Site Work - The installer of the bullet resistant vision window assemblies will
be responsible to assemble the framing, anchor deal trays and framing to surrounding
wall (to be built by buyer) and install the bullet resistant glass for a
complete installation in accordance with the manufacturer's printed instructions. |
